Scope

Reporting to the Director General, the social worker will support the educational mission of the MOSD.  Our mission is to provide children with hearing loss, from birth to late adolescence, the opportunity to develop their listening and spoken language skills through an auditory-verbal communication approach, with the aim of developing literacy competencies that support their academic success in a mainstream school system.

Within the scope of practice in social work, the primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with all staff within the educational mission of the school
  • Collaborate with all key stakeholders (CLSC, Rehabilitation centers, etc.)
  • Referral to outside agencies
  • Provide guidance to staff, families, and students
  • Manage the afterschool program
  • Commit to continuing professional development in the areas judged necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work
  • A valid license to practice in Québec
  • Be a member of the ordre “OTSTCFQ”
  • A valid driver’s license

Skills

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills and respectful of deadlines
  • Fluently bilingual in French and English, written and spoken

Experience

  • Working with children
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team

Salary

  • Salary based on public sector pay scale
