Liz Leahy worked as an auditor and trained as a chartered professional accountant in the United Kingdom. She held various accounting positions before moving to Canada. Ms. Leahy has worked as a the financial controller in the corporate sector for nearly ten years. She joined the MOSD team in 2015, where she is using her experience to optimize the MOSD’s model of economic sustainability.
Susan McKinnon Bell
Director of Development, MOSD Foundation
Graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Major in Management from Concordia University, Susan began her philanthropic career in 2001 working as the Director of Development at Weston School. Her primary function was to set up the fundraising model in the school and solicit foundations and corporations for donations as well as establishing partnerships for the school and its programs. She was also responsible for organizing fundraising events and initiatives including an Annual Giving campaign. Through her involvement with Weston School, Susan increased the visibility and awareness of the institution in both the community and the media. In 2002, Susan became the Executive Director at the McGill Chamber Orchestra where she not only erased an accumulated deficit of $60,000, but she also brought the orchestra to profitable levels for the first time in 10 years. Through her work with the Board chair, she established an annual fundraising event. Until recently Susan worked as both the Director of Fund Development at Tyndale St-Georges Community Centre and is a Director of the Tyndale Foundation. She was responsible for taking leadership for foundations, seasonal mailing, newsletters, founding partners, schools, etc. She coordinated campaigns, followed up directly with solicitors, oversaw the work of the Fund Development assistant and attends/assists with the planning of all Fund Development Committee meetings. During her time at Tyndale, her fundraising efforts exceeded budgetary expectations by a minimum of 24% each year.
On a volunteer basis, Susan is the District Manager for the South-West region of Montreal for the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program; a volunteer for l'Abri en Ville, Cedars Cancer Centre, The Bell Fund, and the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation’s annual telethon. She was a volunteer Past-Chair of Jesters Quebec and Chair of the Can Am Cup squash tournament that was held in Montreal in October 2014.
Susan recently joined the MOSD Foundation team and is excited about the possibilities of taking the school to the next level of learning through distance learning and technology.
